Gosforth Central and Gosforth Playpark join forces!
Many of you will have heard of the brilliant work of the Gosforth Playpark Fundraiser. A community fundraiser set up by two determined local Gosforth mums on a mission to improve the facilities of the playground in Gosforth Central Park.
You may have already seen that Gosforth Central supported the playground fund historically; we donated over £10,000 over the last few years from proceeds from our outdoor cinema and theatre events. The money donated so far has helped to pay for repairs and updates to broken equipment in the park like the ever popular zip wire. We were also able to pay for a new defibrillator and had that life saving piece of equipment installed in Gosforth Central Park last year.
We have been busy working behind the scenes for the last 12 months and thought it was time to let everyone know (briefly) the story so far.
In 2025, Gosforth Play Park and Gosforth Central officially joined forces, together we will bring a new and improved playpark to Gosforth Central Park in 2026.
- When Urban Green charity who managed the park and supported our fundraising, was taken back to council control, we set up our own official charity to continue the great work with registered charity status. The new charity name is Gosforth Community Foundation.
- A tender was sent out to a number of play park companies and two have been shortlisted.
- With the help of our local ward councillors we’ve lobbied the council for help with funding.
- If we can hit our fundraising target; we now need £40,000 to get to target, our aim is to bring an improved playpark with new facilities to Gosforth in Autumn 2026.

By sponsoring one of our events, not only will your brand be included on all promotional and marketing material, you can have a banner at the event itself and 1 month advertising on the electronic screens in Gosforth Central.
We have a number of events planned throughout the year, reaching various target markets in Gosforth and the surrounding area.

- Pay for a specific piece of equipment
We are introducing a number of new play items into the park. If you would like to pay for a specific piece of equipment individual prices range from £750 to £7,000. Please contact georgie@gosforthcentral.co.uk for a list of available items.
- Hold your own fundraiser to donate to the playpark fund.

From bake sales to sponsored bike rides, friendship bracelet stalls to sporting challenges, you have all done so much to help donate to this worthy charity and we'd like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. We cannot do this without all your help and support.
